The Lawrenceville Unit 20 Board of Education met in regular session Wednesday night. Unit 20 Superintendent Doug Daugherty informed the board that the school district is in good financial shape with regards to state funding coming in regularly. The school board also gave a prepared statement regarding the ongoing investigation into the suspension of assistant basketball coach Blaize Kimmell. Kimmell was suspended for the remainder of the season without pay by the board last week amidst allegations of inappropriate language on a group chat. Several people were on hand at the meeting and spoke up in support of leniency for Kimmell. The board took no action during last night’s meeting.
