Authorities in both Lawrence and Crawford Counties are investigating a credit card scam. A man has been targeting tire repair shops. Authorities say he orders up to eight tires for a semi and pays with a credit card that appears to be legitimate but is later discovered to be fake. This man has reportedly purchased approximately 24 semi tires valued in the neighborhood of $12,000 with fake credit cards. The suspect is described as an African American male driving a white Chevy Express van with unknown Illinois plates. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lawrenceville Police Department, Palestine Police Department or the Crawford County Sheriff’s Department.
