A former Vincennes Lincoln student who attacked a teacher was sentenced to nine years with the Department of Corrections Tuesday.   Judge Gara Lee said Donavon Davis will serve 29 days in the Knox County Jail. Davis was initially sentenced to a year in prison; but the sentence was reduced due to time served. Davis changed his plea to guilty in August in the attack. Davis admitted in court to a felony charge of aggravated battery resulting in bodily injury. He admitted to kicking Cheryl Clemens in the face and hitting her with a chair four times, leaving her with severe PTSD. Davis apologized directly to the teacher’s family in court. He has been under home monitoring since the attack. After Davis’ time in jail, he will spend eight more years on probation. Two of those years will be spent on home monitoring. Davis is also required to serve 800 hours of community service, with 100 of those hours happening every year.
