The Red Hill Saluki football season came to an end Saturday as the Dawgs were beaten at home in the first round of the Class 1A playoffs by Moweaqua Central A & M 48-40. Drew Moore of the Salukis capped off his outstanding season and career by running for 275 yards and four touchdowns in the contest but it was not enough as A & M quarterback Connor Heaton ran for 115 yards and passed for 220 yards and accounted for six touchdowns. The Salukis end their year at 8-2 while A & M improves to 7-3 and will play at Albion in the second round against the Edwards County Lions who beat Madison 7-0 in the opening round. Elsewhere in play involving Little Illini Conference teams–Class 3A–Fairfield 34 Newton 28 (OT)—-Class 4A–Kankakee (McNamara) 59 Olney (Richland County) 18—Paris 42 Salem 14–LIC champion Paris (10-0) will next play at Effingham (8-2).
