Edward ‘Dale’ Crawford, 97, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the United Methodist Village-North Campus in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He was born February 5, 1921 in Lawrence County, Illinois, the son of Daily E. and Nellie M. (Hinchman) Crawford. He married Marybelle Conover in 1943 and she preceded him in death in 2015.
Dale was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Free Methodist Church in Vincennes. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, bowling, and traveling with his wife Marybelle and spending winters in southern Texas.
Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Marybelle; two brothers, Paul Crawford and Glenn Crawford; one sister, Mary J. Shook; one grandson, John Strate; and a son-in-law, Ben Strate.
Survivors include one son, Edward Crawford and wife, Peggy, of Flat Rock, Illinois; three daughters, Marilyn K. Strate of Vincennes, Indiana, Vicki Charest of New Albany, Mississippi, and Linda Hood and husband, Dutton, of Cecil, Ohio; one brother, Ronnie Crawford of Lawrenceville, Illinois; ten grandchildren, Jamie Pillsbury and husband, Larry, Chris Reed and husband, Thomas, Michele Nay, Brian DeCanter and wife, Nicole, Brent DeCanter and wife, Janel, Melissa Samples and husband, James, Jeff Strate and wife, Rebekah, Kristi Gray and husband, Kyle, Andrew Crawford and wife, Johanna, and Ryan Crawford and wife, Jessica; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:00am at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Thursday, October 4, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will in the May Chapel Cemetery.
