Rookie Pablo Reyes homered for the second straight night and Francisco Cervelli drove in two runs to back the pitching of Chris Archer as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Chicago Cubs 6-0 in game two of their four game series at Wrigley Field. With the loss, the Cubs missed a chance to clinch a playoff spot for a second straight night and had their NL Central Division lead cut to 1/2 game over the surging Milwaukee Brewers who won at St Louis. Archer struck out nine and walked two while allowing four hits over six innings. Mike Montgomery took the loss for the Cubs giving up five runs on seven hits. The Cubs were shut out for the 11th time this season as they went 0 for 6 with runners in scoring position and stranded seven men. They will try again Wednesday night to pick up a win behind Jose Quintana (13-11) who will oppose Ivan Nova (9-9) for Pittsburgh. The game can be heard on Lite 103 WAKO beginning with the pregame at 6:30 p.m. Central Time 7:30 Eastern.
