54 year-old Glen Ramey of Olney has been given permission to file a motion to withdraw his guilty plea related to the November 2016 death of an eight-year-old Olney girl. Ramey pleaded guilty in January to predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony meaning mandatory prison time, in return for dismissal of a count of first-degree murder. Ramey was sentenced to 60 years in prison in March, the maximum possible sentence. Ramey’s new attorney, Tania Cullison, appeared in court in July and requested transcripts of all prior proceedings and indicated Ramey might seek to withdraw his guilty plea. Cullison was granted permission to file the motion to dismiss the plea on Friday. The request was granted over the objection of the prosecution, who argued that Ramey missed the deadline for when such requests were to be made. A status hearing is scheduled for November 16th.
