NEWTON HANDS FOOTBALL INDIANS FOURTH STRAIGHT LOSS

Aaron Buttery ran for 126 yards and two touchdowns and Conner Bierman ran for a touchdown and returned an interception for a score to lead the Newton Eagles to a 56-8 win over the Lawrenceville Football Indians Friday night at Loeb Field. Eagle quarterback Colton Goode also passed for two touchdowns in the contest. Newton was dominent and in control throughout the game. They led 35-0 after 1 quarter, 49-0 at the half, and 56-0 after three quarters enroute to their third win against one loss. The Indians averted a shutout in the fourth quarter when Daymon Parkman scored on a 32 yard run and they added a two point conversion. Newton outgained the Tribe 313 yards to 139 with Parkman leading the Indians with 14 carries for 50 yards. With the loss, the Indians fall to 0-4 overall and 0-4 in Little Illini Conference play. Newton improves to 3-1 overall and 2-1 in league play. Next Friday the Indians travel to Flora to meet the Wolves in LIC play.
