Mike Moustakas scored on Carl Edwards Jr’s wild pitch in the top of the sixth inning and that proved to be the winning run as the Milwaukee Brewers edged the Chicago Cubs 3-2 Monday night at Wrigley Field in game one of their big series for first place in the NL Central. The win trims the Cub lead down to one game over the Brew Crew. Milwaukee won for the seventh time in eight games while the Cubs lost for the fifth time in seven games. Wade Miley went five innings to pick up the win with solid relief help while Jon Lester took the loss. Lester had to leave the game in the late innings and the Brewers capitalized on the Cub bullpen. Game two is Tuesday night under the lights with Jhoulys Chacin (14-6) pitching for Milwaukee and Jose Quintana (12-9) for the Cubs.
