Karen Ann Miller, 81, of Lawrenceville, Illinois passed away Friday, August 31, 2018 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana. She was born April 21, 1937 in Benton, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Lela (Lipsey) Hartman. She married Joseph Elbert Timothy ‘Tim’ Miller on June 2, 1969 and he preceded her in death on May 20, 2016.

Karen was a graduate of Illinois-Normal Teachers College in Carbondale, Illinois. Her career consisted of teaching business at Ashley High School in Ashley, Illinois; being a teacher and principal at the St. Lawrence Catholic Schools; being the principal at the St. Joseph Catholic School in Princeton, Indiana; serving as the guidance counselor at Red Hill High School; teaching the youth offenders program at Lawrence Correctional; and being the adjunct professor of English and Math at Lincoln Trail College. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul and St. Lawrence Catholic Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Tim; and daughter, Valerie A. (Miller) Wilson.

Survivors include one son, Chris Miller and his wife, Beth, of Pawleys Island, South Carolina; one son-in-law, Jeffery Wilson of Lawrenceville, Illinois; two sisters, Sandra Presley of Herrin, Illinois and Linda Dennis of Cape Coral, Florida; and two grandchildren, Jacob Wilson of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Hannah Miller of Pawleys Island, South Carolina.

A mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at 12:00 PM at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at the Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Burial will be in the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Karen’s memory may be made to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
