MARSHALL ROLLS OVER INDIANS IN FOOTBALL SEASON OPENER

The Marshall Lions amassed 475 yards in total offense and shut out the Lawrenceville Football Indians 49-0 in the home and season opening game at Ed Loeb Field Friday night. The Lions led 7-0 after one quarter, 35-0 at the half and 42-0 after three quarters enroute to the win. Marshall quarterback Jacob Shaffner ran for 135 yards and four touchdowns and running back John Siverly ran for 148 yards and three TDs to lead the way. The Indians were held to 133 total yards. Freshman quarterback Brenyn Winningham was 7 of 19 passing for 83 yards and one interception and back Bradley Churchwell had 11 carries for 34 yards for the Tribe. The loss spoiled the debut of new Indian head football coach Chad Green. The 0-1 Indians will host Olney (Richland County) at Loeb Field next Friday. The game can be heard on Lite 103 WAKO with the pregame at 6:45 p.m. Central 7:45  Eastern.
