HAPP AND LESTER LEAD CUBS OVER PIRATES

Jon Lester broke out of his pitching slump and Ian Happ homered in the top of the fourth inning for the only run in the Chicago Cubs 1-0 win Thursday night over the Pirates at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. Lester struck out eight and allowed just five hits over six innings in the win. He had been 0-3 with a 10.32 ERA over his previous five starts and is now 13-5 on the season. Ivan Nova took the loss for the Pirates. Game two of the four game series is Friday night with Cole Hamels starting for the Cubs and Trevor Williams (10-8) for the Pirates. The game can be heard on Lite 103 WAKO with the pregame programming starting at 5:30 p.m. Central Time 6:30 Eastern.
