BOTE AND MONTGOMERY LEAD CUBS OVER ROYALS

David Bote drove in a career high three runs to back the solid pitching of Mike Montgomery in the Chicago Cubs 5-0 shutout of the Kansas City Royals Tuesday night in Kansas City. Montgomery improved to 4-4 by allowing no runs on five hits over six innings in the win. It was his first victory since June 29th. Bote drove in two in the top of the first inning with two outs with his first career triple and added a RBI single in the fifth. The Cubs will look for the series sweep Wednesday night as they send Jose Quintana (10-7) to the mound against Heath Filmeyer (0-1) for the Royals.
