John Lankston, 84, a native of Bridgeport and long-time resident of New York City , passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018.

 

Mr. Lankston was a well-known tenor, having sung with Barbra Streisand in the Broadway production of “Funny Girl” and with many other artists with the NYC Opera Company. His professional career spanned more than 30 years.

 

John’s parents were the late Jake and Elva Lankston of Bridgeport. He is survived by brothers Keith and David Lankston, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by brothers, Charles and Robert Lankston.

 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church of Lawrenceville, with the Reverend Dr. Shane O’Neill officiating and Matthew O’Neill, tenor, as soloist.

 

Burial will be at Crest Haven Memorial Cemetery . Cunningham-Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
