DEJONG LEADS CARDS TO WIN OVER CUBS

Cardinal shortstop Paul DeJong had three hits and drove in three runs and catcher Yadier Molina also had three hits to lead the St Louis Cardinals to a 5-2 win over the Chicago Cubs Friday night in game one of their three game series at Busch Stadium. Cardinal starter Luke Weaver was the winner giving up two runs in six innings-solo homers by Anthony Rizzo and Javier Baez. Cub starter and loser Mike Montgomery allowed five runs and 12 hits in five innings. Bud Norris pitched the ninth and picked up his 20th save for the Redbirds. Game two is a late afternoon start Saturday with Jose Quintana (9-6) going for the Cubs and Miles Mikolas (10-3) for the Cardinals.
