A badly burned Evansville apartment building where a man’s body was found two weeks ago has now been demolished. The building at the corner of Read and Michigan Streets was torn down over the weekend. Authorities say someone set the building on fire two weeks ago. During their investigation, authorities located the body of 41-year-old Gerard Matts. Matts’ death has been ruled a homicide. Autopsy results indicate Matts died before the fire was started. Police reports indicate that homeless people had been repeatedly chased away from the property.
