The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly hit and run accident which occurred over the weekend.  The accident happened just before 11:00 p.m. Friday on I-69 near the South Green River Road exit. Deputies say they were notified by several 9-1-1 callers claiming a man with black pants and no shirt was in the southbound lanes waving his arms at motorists. Deputies say another 9-1-1 caller reported the man was lying in the road moments later. Authorities said that man, identified as 23-year-old David William Egan of Evansville, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital where he later died. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone who might have witnessed the hit and run to call its tip line at (812) 421-6297. Residents, business owners, and property managers are being asked to review their security camera footage from 10:45 p.m. onward. Southbound I-69 was closed at Green River Road for about one hour while authorities processed the scene. Another pedestrian was killed in the same location along I-69 just last month.
