Saturday evening at approximately 6:05, Trooper John Davis was patrolling I-69 near the 48 mile-marker when he observed the driver of a 1999 Pontiac traveling at 85 mph.  Trooper Davis attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop and accelerated to speeds in excess of 110 mph. The vehicle started to experience engine problems at the 36 mile-marker and eventually stopped at the 34 mile-marker. The driver, Nathan Williams, 32, of Loogootee, was arrested without incident. Officers searched his vehicle and found small amounts of meth and marijuana. While Williams was being booked in at the Pike County Jail, correctional officers found a small amount of meth on his person. Williams is currently being held without bond in the Pike County Jail.
