Both the FBI and Indiana State Police have been called in to investigate a possible hate crime on the Vincennes University campus which was reported Monday morning. According to the VU police report, an unknown male made racial slurs at a male student. The assailant also allegedly told the student to return to his dorm. While the student was starting to leave, the attacker reportedly lowered his weapon and ran away. However, VU Police say surveillance video actually puts the student who made the report in a residence hall during the time of the alleged incident. Police also say the student stayed at the residence hall through the morning before filing the report at around noon eastern. The case has now been referred to the Knox County prosecutor’s office. No arrests have been made. Investigation into the case continues.
