Shirley Kay Potts, age 80 of Lawrenceville and formerly of Allendale, passed away Friday, March 16, 2018 in Lawrenceville at the United Methodist Village-South Campus. She was born January 24, 1938 in Lawrenceville to Daisey Mann.
Shirley married Larry Allen Potts on August 28, 1953, and he preceded her in death on November 8, 1995.
Some of the things Shirley enjoyed in life were sewing, reading, doing a lot of puzzles, and watching her favorite shows on T.V. She was a member of the Barney’s Prairie Church of Friendsville. Shirley was a homemaker to her family and had worked in housekeeping at Wabash General Hospital for many years. She then worked at the Wareco Gas Station in Mt. Carmel.
Surviving family includes: her four children- Larry Joe Potts and his wife Marilyn of Olney, Jeanne Ash and her husband Robin of Allendale, Cathy Loudermilk and her husband Larry of Lawrenceville, and Billy Dean Potts and his wife Tonya of Albion: twelve grandchildren: and thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her mother- Daisey Mann: her husband- Larry Allen Potts: one son- Robert Allen Potts: one granddaughter- Shala Kay Ash: one brother- Gilbert Mann: and one sister- Norma Jean Tucker.
A funeral service for Shirley Kay Potts will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place next to her husband in Allendale Cemetery.
