Child Injured in Mobile Home Fire Dies

One of two children who were injured in a mobile home fire in Princeton last Saturday morning has died. The Marion County Coroner’s Office says 9-year-old Kayne  Mellette has died due to smoke inhalation and thermal burns.  Kayne’s sister, Khloe Mellette remains in critical condition at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis. The fire occurred last Saturday morning at a mobile home on Ash Street. Five people were in the mobile home at the time. The Gibson County Coroner pronounced 38 year-old Christopher Mellette dead at the scene.  The other two people were treated on scene. A space heater which overloaded a power outlet was deemed the cause. The Indiana State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate.
