John Richey Fox, age 80 of Lawrenceville, passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018 in Evansville, IN at Deaconess Hospital. He was born August 13, 1937 in Vincennes, IN to Stoy Eugene Fox and his wife Helen Gertrude (Richey) Fox.
On August 7, 1960, John married Nancy Tillery in the Lawrenceville First United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on February 24, 2017.
John served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He then went on to earn his Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Illinois University. He worked for many years for the state of Florida as a social worker. Upon relocating to Illinois, he worked for Crawford County and Lawrence County as a probation officer. John and Nancy had been members of the Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lawrenceville. John had also been a former member of the Lawrenceville Elks Lodge.
Surviving family includes: one daughter- Nancy Hoffman and her husband Ted of Bloomington: three sons- David Fox and his wife Mindy of Olney, Dan Fox and his wife Shelly of Springfield, MO, and Dana Fox and his wife Robin of Fort Meyers, FL: ten grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
As per John’s wishes, cremation will take place. No formal services are planned at this time. Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville is assisting the family.
