Both Lawrence County Teams were beaten in consolation bracket play Wednesday night at the Little Illini  Conference boys basketball tournament at Red Hill Junior-Senior High school. The host Red Hill Salukis lost convincingly to the Olney Tigers 56-39. Olney led from start to finish in picking up their third win of the season over the Dawgs. Drew Moore  scored 11 to lead the Salukis who fall to 7-11 with their third straight loss. Meanwhile, it was a crushing and disappointing loss for the Lawrenceville Indians as they squandered a 16 point lead and lost to the Newton Eagles 62-61. Newton led by 1 after one quarter, but the Tribe rebounded to lead by 12 at the half. The lead reached 16 in the second half before Newton began to come on and cut the lead to 5 after three quarters. They then took advantage of poor Indian shooting and numerous turnovers to lead in the final moments and pick up the victory. Zeus Marsh led the Indians with 15 points while Jordan Jones and Skyler Tewell each added 11. The Indians are now 4-13 with their second straight loss. Olney and Newton advance to play each other in the consolation championship Friday at 5 p.m.
