Charles L. Ford, 98, of Petersburg, Indiana, formerly of Lawrenceville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Amber Manor in Petersburg, Indiana. He was born February 24, 1919 in Lawrenceville, Illinois, the son of Lindsay K. and Alta H. (Mills) Ford. He married Winifred Davis on May 10, 1941 and she preceded him in death on July 12, 2012.

Charles worked at Texaco Refinery for 35 years. After his retirement, he continued working as a self-employed accountant. He served his country in the Army Air Corp in WWII; where he ‘flew the hump’, served in the China Campaign, and was awarded a Bronze Star. His memberships included the American Legion, Elks, and Country Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife, Winifred; two sons, Lindsay Ford and Steven Ford; six brothers, Omer Ford, Ralph Ford, Ray Ford, Leo Ford, Marion Ford, and Ellis Ford; one sister, Juanita Vangilder; and one grandson, Lindsay Ford, Jr.

Survivors include one sister, Becky Cox of Vincennes, Indiana; one grandson, Robert ‘Bob’ Ford of St. Louis, Missouri; and two great-grandsons, Alex and Owen Ford.

Graveside services will be Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM CST at the Lawrenceville City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Emmons-Macey & Steffey Funeral Home in Lawrenceville, Illinois is assisting the family with the arrangements.
