Jerry Roy Tewell, age 75 of Lawrenceville, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in Vincennes, IN at Willow Manor. He was born in Birds on June 3, 1942 to Roy H. Tewell and his wife Lola Alice (Davis) Tewell.
On October 11, 1961, Jerry married Sharon Bookout in Winters, CA. She survives.
As a young man, Jerry entered into the United States Army during Korea. He worked for many years as a welder. Jerry attended Hi-Way Church of God until he was unable. Some of the things Jerry enjoyed were fishing, target shooting, gardening, and music of all kinds.
Surviving family includes: his wife- Sharon Tewell of Lawrenceville: three sons- Jerry Ray Tewell and wife Beverly of New Palestine, Chuck Tewell and his wife Cheryl of Louisville, KY, and Russ Tewell and wife Melissa of Robinson: two sisters- Esther Piper and husband John of Florida and Debbie Piper of Lawrenceville: one brother- Wayne Tewell and companion Darlene Bell of Lawrenceville: six grandchildren- Ashley Ann Moore, Kacy Nicole Tewell, Felicia Dawn Roberson, Ryan Blake Tewell, David Wesley Tewell, and Amy Jo Tewell: six great-grandchildren- Alexis Lena Wang, Logan Chase Wang, Wyatt Rhys Moore, Roland Roberson, Lenora Moore, and Tobias Roberson: and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents.
A funeral service will be held for Jerry Roy Tewell at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017 at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial and military rites will be at Lawrenceville City Cemetery.
