Richland Schools Locked Down Monday

school-threat

Richland County school officials became aware at about 9:30am yesterday of a written threat of violence. The school district enacted its emergency operations plan at all buildings. Officers from Olney Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police and a crime scene investigator began an investigation. No violence occurred. The district, including Olney Central College, had been on what school officials termed soft lock down status from the time of the notification.  Normal operations resumed at 12:30pm. Police will remain in school district buildings for the next few days to continue their investigation.
