Gladys Ann Stephens 65 of Chareston, IL, formally of Sumner, IL passed away Saturday October 21, 2017at her home with her loving family at her side.

She was born on May 3, 1952 in Chicago the daughter of Thomas William and Gladys Ann ( Clark) Dinwiddie.

Gladys married her soul mate Donald Dean Stephens on January 15,1971 and he survives.

Gladys worked several years at Burgin Manor in Olney, Pine Lawn and Hickory Estates in Sumner. She was a CNA, a rehab aide and a physical therapy aide. .She also was a janitor at the Sumner United Methodist Church for over 10 years. She later helped her son, Bob Stephens from Spic and Span and cleaned the VA.

Gladys loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved having her grandchildren over for sleep overs, as well as going swimming, going to the park, the movies. She love going to their school programs and their ballgames.

Gladys had several hobbies such as making photo albans, planting flowers and just being outdoors

Gladys was a loving, giving person and was always there for someone in need. She always put others before herself.

Gladys was a faithful member of the Sumner United Methodist Church and later attended the Life Point Church in Mattoon, IL.

She is survived by her loving husband Donald, 3 loving sons Robert Dean Stephens and wife Tammy of Charleston, IL, Dr. Jamie Stephens and wife Traci of Tolono, IL, Rusty Neil Stephens of Charleston/Chiang Mai, Thailand, 4 grandchildren Ava, Austin, Will and Emaline, 1 sister Mary Winter of Carlyle, IL., 6 brothers–in-laws Daymon and wife Etta of Bluff Dale, Utah, Denver and wife Lil of Sullivan, IN, Jimmy Daugherty and wife Shelly of Owensboro, KY, Gary Daugherty and wife of Chicago, Everett Stephens and wife Donna of Olney, IL, Charles Monroe Cain and wife Toni of Schwertz, Texas. 5 sister-inlaws Rhonda Daugherty of Lawrenceville, IL, Janice Cecil of Bridgeport, IL, Barbara Kohensky and husband Robert of Mascow Mills, Missouri, Judy Kmet and husband Lawrence of Villa Park, IL, Lucille Gideon and husband Timothy of Hartville, Missouri. Gladys had several nieces and nephews from both sides of her family and loved them all. She leaves behind a grandson Brett Robert Stephens, a nephew Ricky Shidler, and a niece Laci jo.

Gladys will be missed dearly by her family and friends

There will be no visitation as this is her wishes. A Graveside Service will be at a later date.
