Sumner man reaches plea agreement in drug screen fraud case

State’s Attorney, Michael M. Strange, announced that on September 20th, 2017, Allen W. Byers, 32, of Sumner, pled guilty to a charge of Unlawful Defrauding a Drug Screening Test, a Class 4 Felony. In exchange for his plea, Byers was sentenced to 30 months in the Illinois Department of Corrections followed by 1 year of Mandatory Supervised Release. Byers is also required to pay court costs. Byers was charged with possessing another person’s urine with the intent that it be used to defraud a drug screen test required by probation. Byers was on probation for a previous charge of Aggravated DUI. He was unsuccessfully discharged from probation for the DUI charge as part of the plea.
