Matilda Faye (Kendall) Mason, age 71 of rural Allendale, passed away surrounded by her family at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. She was born April 13, 1946 in Princeton, IN to Clyde Kendall and his wife Martina Faye “Dolly” (Emmons) Kendall.
Bennie Mason married Matilda on January 11, 1963, and he preceded her in death on September 13, 2003.
Matilda attended the Free Methodist Church of St. Francisville for many years. She worked as a Registered Nurse and took a lot of pride in being a nurse. Throughout the years, she worked as an RN at Good Samaritan Hospital, Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, and Deaconess Hospital. Matilda also took a lot of pride in her grandchildren. She loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed flowers and loved good shoes.
Surviving family includes: her mother- Martina Faye “Dolly” Kendall: three children- Bennie F. Mason, Jr. of St. Francisville, Timothy Clyde Mason of Allendale, and Matilda Steffey and her husband Thad of St. Francisville: seven grandchildren- Nick Hancock, Jordan Mason, Samantha Mason, Aaron Mason, Jacob Mason, Cole Steffey, and Cody Steffey: eight great-grandchildren: four siblings- Roy Kendall and wife Karen of Azle, TX, David Kendall and wife Jeanne of Friendsville, Sherry Kasinger and husband Gary of St. Francisville, and James Patrick Kendall and wife Kay of St. Francisville: and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Mason, Sr., and her father, Clyde Kendall.
A funeral service will be held for Matilda Faye Mason at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the Free Methodist Church of St. Francisville. Visitation will also be held at the church Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery in St. Francisville. Cunningham Funeral Homes are handling the arrangements.
