The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that Illinois Route 1 over the Embarras River north of Lawrenceville will be closed to all traffic for a bridge replacement project beginning Monday. A marked detour utilizing US Route 50 and Business 50 will be in place and motorists should follow the signs to avoid any delays. This work is scheduled to be completed in June of 2019. Motorists are asked to slow down and use extra caution when traveling through the marked route detour.
