A Harrisburg, Illinois doctor convicted of plotting to have former Saline County State’s Attorney Mike Henshaw kidnapped was not sentenced this week as scheduled.

A judge postponed Brian Burns’ sentencing until August 29th after Burns’ attorney Bryan Drew withdrew from the case citing a breakdown in communication. Prosecutors say Burns plotted to kidnap Henshaw while he was jailed on charges he killed his estranged wife Carla Burns and burned her body. Burns said he has hired Marion attorney Duane Verity to represent him in the murder trial – which is set for January. It is not known yet whether Verity will also represent Burns in his sentencing for the conspiracy and attempted kidnapping convictions.
