Barbara Sue Earnst, age 71 of Bridgeport, passed away at Carle Hospital in Champaign on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
She was born in Missouri on March 26, 1946 to Irvin and Goldie (Woods) Chitwood.
Barbara was a member of the White House Christian Church for many years. She was a homemaker to her family and had worked in housekeeping at Richland Memorial Hospital and Pine Lawn.
Barbara married William “Bill” Earnst, Sr. on May 26, 1962, and he survives. She is also survived by: three sons- William Earnst, Jr. and his wife Marsha of Lawrenceville, Tim Earnst and his wife Nilda of San Diego, CA, and Larry Alan Earnst of Bridgeport: two brothers- Thurman Chitwood and wife Jean of Cisne and Dan Chitwood and wife Wanda of Sumner: four sisters Glenna Christy and husband Jim of Dennison, Dolly Propes and husband Ed of Olney, Sandy Smith and husband Joe of St. Francisville, and Kathy Foshee and husband Jeff of Friendsville: two brothers-in-law- Tom Earnst and wife Lois of Bridgeport and Terry Earnst and wife Janet of Vincennes, IN: and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents- Irvin and Goldie Chitwood: one son- Steve Earnst: one brother Gene Chitwood: and one sister- Sharon Earnst.
A funeral service will be held for Barbara Sue Earnst on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held from 12:00 noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Bridgeport City Cemetery.
