Employees of Daviess County are in line for a 3.5% raise if County Office holders follow the suggestions of the County Council’s Budget Committee.

Reporting for the Committee at Wednesday’s  County Council meeting,  Councilman Kent Norris said the committee looked at a number of statistics including pay levels in surrounding counties, federal numbers on the cost of living, Department of Labor statistics, along with the County’s growth quotient.  Norris said the County could afford a 3.5% raise without an adverse affect on the County’s budget.

However, the 3.5% raise is not chiseled in stone…the Council must still review the individual budget requests from each of the County’s offices before a final decision can be made.  The Council has scheduled Budget Hearings for August 21, and meetings for Budget Review and Adoption for September 6 and 7.
