A 24-year-old Mt. Carmel man is in stable condition after being shot at an apartment complex Saturday. Mt. Carmel Police were called to 214 North Walnut Street regarding reports of a male shot in the chest around 10:15 p.m. Officers found the man bleeding from the gunshot wound in the parking lot of the apartment complex. The shooting was initially investigated as a possible robbery, but is now being investigated as a self-inflicted gun shot wound. The weapon was recovered at the crime scene along with other evidence that lead the investigators to believe the victim shot himself. The victim is currently being treated for his gun shot wound at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Evansville, and is expected to make a full recovery.
