Joseph Mack “Joe” Hensley

Joseph Mack “Joe” Hensley, age 73 of Vincennes, IN and formerly of Bridgeport, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He was born in Bridgeport on March 5, 1944 to Carl Russell Hensley and his wife Olive Marie (Thompson) Hensley.

Joe married Barbara Ash, and she preceded him in death on February 14, 2001. Then on February 22, 2002, he married Lorraine Reed Hollis in Bridgeport.

As a member of the United States Air Force, Joe proudly served his country during Vietnam while stationed in Roswell, New Mexico. He was a member of the Missile Squadron where he cleaned missiles.

Joe was a great natured guy that always had a smile on his face. If you were his family or friend, you knew he always had a smile on his face for you. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church for many years. Joe enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, old cars, stock car racing, demolition derbies, football, and loved Elvis. He worked many years for Texaco, had a lawn maintenance company while living in Florida, and operated a screen printing business. After moving back to Bridgeport, he worked for 11 years in maintenance for the Red Hill School System and operated the screen printing business.

Surviving family includes: his wife- Lorraine Hensley of Vincennes, IN: three daughters- Mia Summers of Bloomington, IN, Cathy Brown and husband John of McKinney, TX, and Bobbi Jo Hensley of Bridgeport: nine grandchildren- Daniel Bonawitt, Erik Bonawitt, Bria Davidson, Brytin Baker, Brittany Bonafino, Talia Varone, Forrest Brown, Kaia Brown, and Alexa Hensley: twelve great-grandchildren: and two God-sons- Sanjar Djuraev of Austria and Anthony Joseph Vantlin of Bridgeport.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Carl and Olive Hensley: his first wife- Barbara Hensley: and three brothers- Bill, Jack, John, and Larry Hensley.

A funeral service will be held for Joe Hensley at 11:00 a.m.(CST) on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the Cunningham Funeral Home in Bridgeport. Visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. (CST) at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Bridgeport City Cemetery. Military rites will be given at the cemetery.
