Two people were injured in an accident that occurred on Route 33 just east of Newton late Sunday night. Illinois State Police say 58 year-old Robin L. Miller of Robinson and a passenger, 49 year old, Anthony Litzelman of West Liberty, were traveling westbound on Route 33 when a heavy downpour occurred. Miller told police that Litzelman allegedly grabbed the steering wheel, which caused the vehicle to exit the roadway. The vehicle then traveled an estimated 200 feet before it struck two trees and came to a rest. Miller was transported to Crawford Memorial Hospital, while Litzelman was transported to Carle Hospital in Champaign for treatment. Charges are currently pending.
