Jeanette E. Murphy, 89, passed away at 5:46 am on April 19, 2017 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Jeanette was born on January 7, 1928 in Knox County the daughter of Fred H. and Sophia (Rehwald) Ellerman. She married Thomas J. Murphy on December 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death on May 29, 1997.
Jeanette retired from Johnson Controls after several years and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Vincennes Hoosier Home Extension Club, the Sewing Guild and enjoyed playing cards in her card club at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Jeanette also enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting, dress making, gardening, and she loved to cook.
Survivors include her sons, Thomas Murphy and his wife Janice of Cape Coral, FL, Stephen Murphy of Vincennes, Fred Murphy and his wife Brenda of Wheatland; two sisters, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great-grandchildren. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two brothers, and one sister.
Funeral services for Jeanette will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor Ron Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may visit with Jeanette’s family on Saturday 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
