By a 2-to-1 voted the Knox County Commissioners re-appointed Marlon Drieman to the County’s Public Defenders Board.

The vote by outgoing Democrats Donnie Halter and Larry Holscher didn’t sit well with the board’s lone Republican Member Kelli Streeter.

Streeter objected to the appointment after tabling action to reappoint members of the County’s Health Board. Leaving those appointments to the incoming Commissioners who will take office on January 1st.

According to Commissioner Donnie Halter, Drieman had continued serving on the Public Defender’s Board without ever being reappointed. The other members of the Public Defenders Board had requested that the over site be corrected and recommended Drieman be reappointed.

Streeter stated that did not agree with the vote to push Drieman’s nomination through and she felt left out of the process altogether.

Drieman’s term which was originally supposed to start a year ago will expire on December 31st, 2018.
