The man in charge of the Knox County Public Library’s historical archives is retiring after 30-years. Wednesday was Brian Spangle’s final day on the job. A reception honoring Spangle was held Wednesday afternoon at the McGrady Brockman House where the library’s historical collection is stored. Spangle says it was quite a challenge organizing the different collections which included county documents, some dating back to the 1790’s. Prior to leaving Spangle shared with library officials his recommendations for maintaining the collection.

Spangle says he plans on continuing writing his local newspaper column “Our Times”. He also wants to write a second book collecting some of the material from his columns on Vincennes and Knox County. His first effort titled, “Vincennes History You Don’t Know” was printed last year and has sold over 400 copies so far.
