The Southwest Indiana Development Council consisting of nine area counties, will benefit from a $5000 grant from Duke Energy.
Duke has donated the money to grow the region’s brand identity and help market the region. The nine counties are Knox, Pike, Gibson, Dubois, Perry, Spencer, Warrick Vanderbugh and Posey.
Eric Schneider is Duke Energy Indiana’s director of economic development, and he says the money is part of an effort to attract jobs and business investment. Southwest Indiana Development Council treasurer, Kent Utt, called Duke a valuable partner to the region with a history and focus which has a positive impact on southwest Indiana.
The Southwest Council was one of 12 Indiana economic development groups to receive a grant through a competitive application process.
