Raymond F. Shappard, 94, Vincennes, passed away Monday, November 21, 2016 at Bridge Pointe Health Campus.

 

 

Raymond was born April 5, 1922, in Knox County, the son of Levi and Corrine (Hess) Shappard. He married Catherine Marie Riester on August 28, 1947. During World War II, he worked for Republic Airlines in Evansville building engines to support the war effort. Upon conclusion of the war, he began a career as a route driver for Nugent Dairy and later Prairie Farms Dairy, where he retired as a district sales manager. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and a lifelong member of Old Cathedral Catholic Church.
Raymond is survived by his daughter, Susan Shappard Bowlin of Vincennes; sons, Stephen (Joan) Shappard of Newburgh and Richard (Lesly) Shappard of Woodlands, TX; grandchildren, Norman Bowlin, Sarah Bowlin, Matthew Shappard, Elizabeth Shappard, Rachael Shappard, Luke Shappard, and Noah Shappard; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine on April 30, 2012; two sisters, Loretta Shappard Turner and Helen Shappard Dicus; brothers, Father Christopher Shappard OSB and Murlin Shappard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Old Cathedral Catholic Church with Rev. Dave Fleck officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fredrick and Son McClure-Utt Funeral Home Vincennes Chapel, 313 Church St. He will be laid to rest at Mt.
