Kathleen “Katie” Dunkerly, 102, Oaktown, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Oak Village Nursing Home. 

Kathleen was born July 8, 1914, in Laconia, IN, the daughter of Artie and Jennie (Stephens) Ludlow. She married Cecil Dunkerly on March 28, 1937 at the Emison Methodist Church. She was retired after 36 as an assistant branch manager of Oaktown Security, Bank and Trust, where she was the first woman to work. She loved her family, church, quilting and flowers. Kathleen was a Knox County Repulican Chairman, named Oaktown’s Woman of the Year in 1983, received a Sagamore of the Wabash Award in 1984,and received the Award of Gold for 50 years’ service to Eastern Star in 1994. Kathleen also was a past treasurer of the Oaktown Cemetery Board and the Oaktown/Busseron Township High School Alumni Association, a past member of the Board of Directors for Oak Village Nursing Home, and involved in the Retired Senior Volunteer Program at Vincennes University.
Kathleen is survived by her nieces and nephews, Barbara (Gene) King, Vernal “Chuck” Greer, Ginny (Ron) Ice, Becky (Steve) Brochain, Mark (Debbie) Kerns, Nancy (Ronnie) Whitehead, Randy (Tracy) King, Kevin King, Kristie (John) Page, Debbie King, Mike Miller and Beth Schmitt; fifteen great-nieces and nephews; fifteen great-great nieces and nephews; and several cousins from Harrison County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil, in 1990; her parents; sister, Helen Ludlow; and great nephew, Tony King.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2016 at noon at the Oaktown United Methodist Church with Jim Beery officiating. Visitation will be held Monday from 10:00 AM until time of service. She will be laid to rest at Oaktown Cemetery.
