Daviess County is a really, really red county

Indiana went red at the polls for Donald Trump on Tuesday night, but one place stood out above the rest: and that was Knox County’s neighbor to the east.  Daviess County gave a state leading 79 percent of its votes to Trump. Franklin County came in a close second at 78 percent. Nearby Martin along with Ripley and Decatur counties wound up in a three-way tie for third. Indiana was one of the first states to be called for Trump on election night.

Daviess County GOP Party Chair Janet Schuler-Hicks said that should not be surprising: The county’s 33,000 residents are exactly the sort of people Trump said he was campaigning for.

Hicks says Daviess County is a mostly blue collar workforce full of farmers and coal miners. She says  Donald Trump spoke the county’s  language. She says Trump is going to improve the economy. He’s going to bring better-paying jobs and the county and  Washington are just on the brink of some great future development.
