The number of Hoosiers carrying guns has skyrocketed this year. In the first nine months of the year, over 107-thousand licenses were issued by the state police. That’s a 38% hike over the entire year of 2015, where 77,571 licenses were issued. To carry a handgun outside of your home, Hoosiers are required to have a License to Carry Handgun issued by state police. You are required to pass a background check, be fingerprinted and pay a fee before the card is issued. Indiana residents are required to have the card for both open-carry and concealed-carry, according to Indiana law.
