Harold W. Grove, 90 of Lawrenceville

Harold W. Grove, age 90 of Lawrenceville, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016 at the United Methodist Village-South Campus in Lawrenceville. 

He was born in Lawrenceville on November 14, 1925 to Leslie and Mary (Abernathy) Grove.

On March 18, 1946, Harold married Winnie Rice in the front room of his parents house near Lawrenceville. Harold and Winnie were married for 70 years, and she survives.

Harold was a graduate of Bridgeport Township High School, and he then went into the United States Navy. While in the Navy, he served in World War II. He then worked at and retired as a foreman from Texaco Refinery. Harold was a Charter member of New Hope Christian Church where he served as an Elder for many years. He really enjoyed pitching horse shoes and won many awards doing it.

Surviving relatives include: his wife Winnie Grove of Lawrenceville: one daughter- Gwen Newman and her husband Ron of Noblesville, IN: one sister- Ruth Kazmaier of Larned, KS: three grandchildren- Annie Hilbert and husband Stuart of Noblesville, IN, Lisa Cash of Noblesville, IN, and Brad Newman and his wife Sonia of Georgetown, KY: and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents- Leslie and Mary Grove; one infant daughter- Marcella Ann Grove: one son- Jay Grove; his grandson- Doug Certain; one sister- Mary Ann Grove; and one brother- Robert Grove.

A funeral service for Harold W. Grove will be held Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cunningham-Young Funeral Home in Lawrenceville. Visitation will be held Saturday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and also Sunday afternoon at the funeral home from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in the Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery south of Lawrenceville.
