Walter L. Harper, Jr. 66, of Princeton, IN, passed away October 28, 2016, at Gentlecare Nursing Home.

Walt had retired from Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was the Receiving Manager. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW Auxillaries, the Lawrenceville Moose Lodge, and the Eagles Lodge. Golfing, fishing, hunting rabbits and dove, and finding snapping turtles were some of his favorite activities. A Chicago Bears fan, he also enjoyed garage sales and auctions.

Born July 18, 1950, in Vincennes, he was the son of Walter, Sr. and Josephine (Twitty) Harper. His parents; two sisters, Sherry Grove and Ruth Ann McCord; a brother, Steven Harper, Sr.; and his father-in-law, William Paul Evans, preceded him.

Surviving is his wife, Brenda (Evans) Harper; a daughter, Amanda Harper-Sloan and her husband, Eric, of Jacksonville, FL; his sons, Walter Harper III and his wife, Mindy, of St. Augustine, FL, Timothy Harper and his companion, Chrissy Taylor, of Vincennes, and David Harper and his wife, Jamie, of Vincennes; a sister, Debra Fields, of Missouri; his grandchildren, Draven and Nolan Harper, Morgan Ellerman, and Spencer Hickman; his mother-in-law, Rosemary Evans of Vincennes; and his grand-dog, Jackson.

Walt’s service will begin at 2:00 on Friday, at Goodwin Funeral Home. Friends may visit with his family from 12:00 – 2:00 on Friday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
