Bill Eakins, 74, passed away at 10:12 am on October 25, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Bill was born on January 12, 1942 in Vincennes the son of Theodore “Ted” and Dorothy Mae (DeCamp) Eakins. He married Mary (Stafford) Chambers on May 24, 1980.
Bill retired from Vincennes University as Maintenance Supervisor and was a member of United Pentecostal Tabernacle Church. He loved playing cards, chess and being with his grandchildren and family. Bill loved to vacation at Pigeon Forge with his wife Mary and his brother Jim; and just really enjoyed life.
Survivors include his wife Mary Eakins of Vincennes; sons, Steven Jack Chambers, Jr. and his wife Tracy of Evansville, Robert Jeremy Chambers of Vincennes, Robert Allen Eakins of Evansville; daughter, Angela Hill and husband Dwayne of Robinson, Il; brother, James R. Eakins of Vincennes; sister, Bonnie Riley of Fairfield, CT; grandchildren, Caleb Jordan Chambers and his wife Brenna, Jacob Riley Chambers, Brent Devin Chambers, Jesse Lee Chambers, Marlin Dwayne Hill, Jr., Kristen Hernandez, Haley Eakins, Cassie Eakins; and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Bill will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, October, 28, 2016 at Goodwin Funeral Home, 524 Broadway with Pastor Loy Baird officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Friends may visit with Bill’s family from 11:00 am until the hour of service time of 1:00 pm on Friday at the funeral home.
