The Vincennes Animal Shelter’s “Empty the Shelter” event – really did  empty the shelter.

Last Friday and Saturday, Animal Shelter director Laura Arial and a crew of dedicated staff-members and volunteers held the adopt-a-thon event. They spread the word on radio and social media in an effort to help every adoptable cat and dog at the shelter find a home.

The adoption fee was reduced to $10, and the success of the event was evident by noon on Friday when 27 dogs and cats had already been adopted. The shelter was “emptied” by 10amSaturday.
The shelter will not be empty for long. There will be some dogs available for adoption on Tuesday.
The public is invited to visit the Vincennes Animal Shelter at 1128 River Road or call 812-882-8826. More information and hours of operation are also  listed on the Vincennes Animal Shelter’s Facebook page.

And by the way, not all animals were adopted during the event: there are still two pigs available!
