Stachura Elected to 2nd Term as Chair on VU Board of Trustees

John Stachura, Vincennes, was elected to his second term as chair of the Vincennes University Board of Trustees at its annual meeting on Monday.  Stachura has served on the VU Board since 2006.Stachura is vice president and general manager of Solar Sources Underground LLC, Petersburg, Indiana.  After earning his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1972 from the Indiana State University School of Business, Stachura began a lifelong career working in every facet of the mining industry.

In other business the Board was introduced to eight students who are part of the Women in STEM program.  The program is designed to attract more women into advanced manufacturing fields by offering scholarships for a new on-campus living/learning community for female students.  It targets potential candidates through a partnership with the Indiana Manufacturers Association.

Phil Rath, vice president for Financial Services and Government Relations, says the effort will focus on preparing students for high-demand careers, including advanced CNC machining, advanced manufacturing automation technology, industrial maintenance, architectural studies, computer-integrated manufacturing, construction, John Deere and diesel, electronics, precision machining, product design and production processes, surveying and welding.
