The special needs girl from Evansville has been missing since mid-July.

The  Evansville Courier and Press reports a federal search warrant was served at the landfill Monday morning.  No other information has been released.

Evansville Police Chief Jason Cullum told the paper that the search is not an acknowledgement that Eckerle is deceased. He says nothing has been found to tell them that she is NOT alive.. Beckerle is wheelchair-bound, cannot speak and requires medication to control seizures.

Cullum said the federal search warrant was needed for jurisdictional purposes. He said officials from from Advanced Disposal have been cooperative with the investigation,   He also said no other landfills were being searched and the search centered on a particular area of the Blackfoot landfill and not the whole facility.  He said investigators continue to follow all leads and anyone with any knowledge of the case is encouraged to contact law enforcement.
